Carl Martin was born in Nampa on October 28, 1902 to S. H. & Calista Redmon Martin. Carl's father worked briefly for the Nampa, Boise, Owyhee (NBO) Railroad before transferring to the Oregon Short Line (OSL) owned by Col. William Dewey.
