In 1908, Frank G. Stephens began planting 370 acres of orchard near Nampa.
Frank's father, Ezra F. Stephens was a nationally renowned horticulturist who was responsible for the planting of tens of thousands of trees in Nebraska.
Ezra, born in 1844, had lived a remarkable life acting as an abolitionist in his early years and fought in the Civil War from 1861-1863.
Ezra joined his son Frank in 1911 in Nampa and remained active until his passing in March of 1928.
