Description
In 1913, Eugene Emerson of Nampa attended a general meeting of the Idaho-Oregon District of the Nazarene Church where an education committee introduced the idea of creating a school. In September 1913, the school "Northwest Nazarene Academy" opened with 13 elementary students.
The 1916-17 enrollment was the first year to use the name Northwest Nazarene College, and commencement in June 1917 mentions four departments: 14 students completing Elementary; 7 form the Academy, two from the Bible Course, and four from the College of Liberal Arts.
