Oregon Short Line & Nampa Develpment Co. Ad

Title

Oregon Short Line & Nampa Develpment Co. Ad

Description

In 1883, the Oregon Short Line Railway, a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad, extended its tracks through what would become Canyon County, laying the groundwork for the establishment of towns along the route, including Nampa.

In 1886, the Nampa Land and Improvement Company was formed by Duffes, James McGee, and James M. Stewart to divide and sell the property into lots.

The railroad, in partnership with land developers actively engaged in promotional campaigns, praising the benefits of the Northwest region and recruiting settlers from the northeastern United States and northern Europe. Here is an example of an advertisement specific to Nampa.
